GREAT NEWS FOR PROPERTY SALES IN NERJA
NEW HOMES VS. RESALES
According to Spanish Property Insight August proved to be another month of growth in sales driven primarily by the resale market, up 52% on last year, compared to a 27% decline in new build sales, which were the lowest on record. Resales were back to where they were in mid-2008, as the Spanish property market cooled down heading for crisis.
The region providing the strongest sales was Murcia with resales up 55% over last year proving a massive swing compared to Catalonia´s Tarragona province home to the Costa Dorada where sales slumped by 5% – the only Mediterranean coastal area popular with tourists to report a decline in sales. Malaga province home to the Costa del Sol delivered an increase in sales of +14%.
GREAT NEWS FOR NERJA
According to the figures from the Government´s Ministerio de Fomento transactions of resales signed at the Notary in Nerja reveals a very positive picture. According to Team España´s Geoff Cheshire “ It is pleasing to note that we have outperformed the market to date and whilst the summer months of July and August where predictably quiet in Nerja the number of enquiries we have for buyers coming out before the end of the year is at a record high. We have invested substantially in the re-build of our database supporting our 3 brand new web sites, teamespana.com inland-property.com and fastigheternerja.se and the benefits are starting to come through.”
